Leading Cardiac Catheterization in the Berkshires

With more than 20 years of expertise, Dr. Peterman is one of the region's most widely respected Interventional Cardiologists who now serves as Director of the BMC Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

Fellowship trained in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology, Dr. Peterman is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Peterman noted that the new lab at BMC provides is "a tremendous facility" that brings state-of-the-art cardiac diagnostic methods to the community, Dr. Peterman said.

Angiography is an X-ray examination of the blood vessels or chambers of the heart. A small tube (or catheter) is positioned in the heart or an artery and a special fluid, called a "contrast medium" or dye, is injected. The fluid is visible on X-ray. The resulting pictures are called angiograms.

A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Peterman is an assistant professor of medicine at Tufts University in Medford, Mass. He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his internship and residency training at Baystate Medical Center, where he also received fellowship training in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He and his wife are the parents of three children.
